For the last 3 months, 5 brave souls have been putting themselves through the rigours of Foundation Level One Teacher Training; after all passing there assessments at distinction level, they are all now available to train therapists our Foundation Level One training course in the UK:

Chris Phillips (South West)
Lisa North (East)
Katharine Marsh & Evelyn Minall (West Midlands)
Abigail Pritchard (Wales)

The big question is...what drove them to undertake the training? We asked Chris & Lisa to give us there reasons:

Q: Why did you book on the course?

A:
• Furthering our knowledge & Personal Developement
• Felt it was the time in our careers to start passing their knowledge on
• We can't do treatments for ever and training is a good way of staying in the industry
• We hoped it would be a new test for us and rekindle our enthusiasm
• Hydrotherm has been of great benefit to us and we would like to make it more accessible to other therapists
• We wanted to supplement our current income
• Wanted to be more involved within the Hydrotherm team and learn more about the company

Q: What would you say you have taken away from the course?

A:
• We are know a lot more confident as we have gained a much greater depth of knowledge
• The Hydrotherm way of teaching will now make it a lot easier for us to teach A&P as it is Hands on
• It opened our eyes as to how important different teaching mediums can be for different learning tendencies
• Hydrotherm takes a fresh approach that challenges the norm – the credibility we have gained through further knowledge will help overcome any resistance
• We got to know the philosophy behind creating a environment where people are happy to buy, rather than trying to sell to people

Q: What are you now looking forward to most?

A:
• Looking forward to getting more people to come and experience the system and Hydrotherm techniques
• The training day has given us fresh impetus and we now have new goals that are highly motivating
• We can’t wait for, and are looking forward to doing more and more teacher training courses
• We are looking forward to building and maintaining relationships with clients

  Think outside the Box!

So you took the plunge & trained with the Hydrotherm System... Life is never quite going to be the same, because you have the potential to multitask this fantastic piece of equipment, without spending another penny!

If you've trained with the hydrotherm, then you've laid on it right! Comfy isn't it? Warm, cocooning...ever thought about using it for other treatments, like facials or eye treatments?..to enhance client comfort & relaxation.
For the last ten years, I have incorporated mine into all face treatments, I know my clients LOVE IT, in fact most of them start stripping off halfway into the treatment room, ready to hop on & nod off to sleep during their facial.

Its so easy to work halfway down the spine & then back up into the neck, & we all know how lovely that feels, while still performing all you need to do facial wise.
And if you are just starting out & have a 'not too plush' couch, believe me, it can make all the difference & thats just it, clients feel the difference & REMEMBER the difference!...meaning a MEMORABLE experience for them.
Combine that with in-depth knowledge & passion for your chosen field, a thirst for on-going education (any hydrotherm therapist has that!!), results driven products & you have the makings of a winning combination.

By providing that little extra  & stepping up your treatments, in an ever increasing time of customer loyalty, what you got to lose?

Hi I’m Jane; I have been a practicing Holistic therapist for the past seven years. I was first introduced to Hydrotherm in 2001 when John Holman came to Keighley College to demonstrate the system, I was very impressed and signed up to do the course at the college, however there were not enough of us to make it viable for hydrotherm to proceed. I came across the system again when I was a body for Evan when he was training to be a trainer, at that time I was having treatment for breast cancer and wasn’t working. When my treatment had finished Michelle came to visit me and promised me a Hydrotherm treatment, after that treatment I was hooked and had a treatment at least once a month. Then Michelle suggested I do the course and when there were enough of us that is what I did. Wow what a difference to convential
Massage not only does it feel amazing, but it was so much easier for me. I passed the first course and went straight on to the advanced, which I also passed. Then earlier this year I took the pregnancy massage Hydrotherm course and that was wonderful how I wish it had been around when I was pregnant!! I have also passed that and have just embarked on the Clinical course and that is so amazing now I am not just giving a lovely massage I am looking for imbalances I am very aware of the muscles I am working with and what they do. A regular client of mine came for a treatment 2 days after I had done the training and he was blown away he said “ I have always loved this massage and it has helped my problem areas a great deal but this is far superior and feels a lot more intense “ That has said it all for me and I am really enjoying my journey with Hydrotherm. I intend to do all the courses as I believe in this system with a passion, as do all my clients. So it’s a big thank you to John for inventing it, and to my two wonderful Trainers Evan & Michelle.

Dear All,
I was doing swedish massage a couple of years ago and getting practitioner damage already. Went to study Indian Head massage as an alternative . During that year I was advised to look at the Hydrotherm system by one of my foster children. She had personal experience with the system. As all with children know it is always wise to listen to your children.
Evan was doing a demo at Thomas Danby college which is quite close to me. I went. Life was never the same after lying on the system and feeling the quiet power of Evan's practitioner touch. You could feel he knew exactly what he was doing. No fanfare or trumpeting; just quiet confidence in himself and the system.
It fired me up. I became determined to save for the system and the training.
I had people to treat before Christmas(Christmas Eve and Boxing Day) and all I could think was " If only I had the Hydrotherm system I could do so much more to help these people.
Finally, I was able to arrange the training and the purchase of the complete system. Hurray.
the first level blew my mind; the second level and every successive level left me blown away. The logic of the training soon dawned. My passion was to move into the clinical side and become the best therapist I could. That is still my passion.
The Level one Clinical training is just the tip of the iceberg of ability. I know that. the second level Clinical beckons to me but I know I need a very firm grasp of level one clinical.
I am nervous of being accessed by Evan as he is imposing as a trainer; I am determined to get the highest possible marks as it means I have a good , sound grasp of level one clinical.
My client base in growing by referral only. I followed Evan's lead and have never advertised. I turn therapy offers down from firms all the time these days. I hope to open a clinic north of Morpeth in the near future as the demand is growing to warrant travelling for 2 1/2hrs each way.
I can only say the journey is fantastic as is the support offered by everyone in the company on all levels. They care so you can care. The client base is unlimited.  I hope you all join the family of those that only wish to do good. I feel my brief is "to do no harm".
I have one client who had seen 48 practitioners and paid out vast sums for no increased mobility or pain relief. One Hydrotherm and he is over the moon with the results and constantly referring people. That is the power of the Hydrotherm system.
Love Rosie

personal_photo.jpg A Reiki treatment is traditionally done with the client fully clothed so it is an ideal treatment for those who are uncomfortable disrobing.  I would suggest you cover the Hydrotherm cushions with a towel (although many of my clients prefer to strip off and wear a thin cotton robe and lie direct on the cushions – they want to really feel the warmth!).    I don’t ask them to turn over to work on the back as is traditionally taught.  There is no need.  Reiki is “intelligent” energy and goes where it is needed.  Being comfortable is what is important and they certainly experience that with Hydrotherm!

*Newsletter Break*

My own Reiki treatments have moved on so much in recent years and they seem to be continually changing.      Water is the element of the emotions so what better thing to lie on than water cushions when having a treatment that works on all levels.  There are very few people who can hold their hands up and say they don’t have emotional problems!

Hydrotherm also allows for movement and gentle movement such as body rocking, breathing techniques and gentle stretching can easily be incorporated into a Reiki treatment, encouraging the body to “let go” of stress and tension.

I have developed a Reiki facial which has become very popular with my clients, both male and female.  This can be done dry or with a massage medium. So many people have so much going on in their heads that they need some help to “pull it all out” and by incorporating some work on acupressure points on the face you can stimulate the energy flow in the body.      The latest addition to my Reiki treatments is a Reiki massage – fully clothed with the most gentle of touch.  This is a head to toe treatment and often incorporates some myofascial release work as I find this particularly effective when done on Hydrotherm.   This has proved to be a very profound and effective treatment.

I mentioned the therapist “toolbox” in my previous article and I have developed my Reiki treatments using the many tools I have gathered from the courses I have studied in the past 7 years.  Personally I don’t practice standard routines.  I prefer to use my imagination and intuition.  Each client is an individual and will require a treatment tailored to their specific needs and the more tools you have in the box the more you can offer your clients.

For the past 18 months I had to re-evaluate how I work due to impending surgery on my cervical spine (not work related).    I had to focus on the TLC aspect of my work and I actually found that to be extremely successful.    I have now had surgery and am planning my return to work in the near future.  However,   I plan to continue with the gentle approach as far as my clients are concerned as this is going to give me the best chance of longevity in my career.   With Hydrotherm underlying all my treatments, and Reiki enhancing all my treatments, my clients will be assured of total relaxation.

Hydrotherm Development PDF Print E-mail

I suppose it was inevitable that eventually version 19 of Hydrotherm was ultimately going to be replaced with version 20 and that’s exactly what is going to Happen.

Change for change sake? (You may well ask!)

Certainly not, would be my reply. We can only make changes when we have to order new stocks of material, as many of you will know the real uniqueness of Hydrotherm is the material that it is made from and this is a very special formulation wholly owned by us and we remain the only company in the World that it is made for.

*Newsletter Break*

Other interesting points include the fact that we have to order a metric ton of material at a time and that costs around £10,000 which we have to pay for in advance and that is not the expensive bit! Fabrication is! Our manufacturer has worked with us over many years developing the tools that cut, shape and most importantly weld Hydrotherm to help it do all that we claim you can do with it (Hence versions 1 through to 15!) Did you know for instance that Hydrotherm is welded with sound and not heat?

So, every time we have to order more material we look at what can be improved in design, construction or perhaps solving a recurring issue such as the neoprene foam inserts migrating from the cap and floating off around the inside of the Hydrotherm unit for example

Here are some of the improvements to the Hydrotherm Massage System version 20

Neoprene foam inserts replaced with interference fit waterproof cap and screw top

Hydrotherm badges removed and replaced with internally embossed logo

Hydrotherm lumbar support badges replaced with internally embossed logo

New contemporary colour for Hydrotherm units and lumbar supports

I really hope that you like and approve of New Hydrotherm

Best Wishes

John
