Thank you for enquiring about the Hydrotherm courses. There are so many benefits to the system that even people that have been using the system for years don’t realise. It would be brilliant if we could at least arrange for you to do level 1 training so that we can explore everything about the system and how it can be so hugely beneficial to you, your therapists, your clients & your business. 

With regards to venue/travel etc. you are more than welcome to train at our centre in Thame, Oxfordshire, at on of our local training venues, or we can come to you; if we come to you, either we can book hotels, flights, parking and pay for mileage etc as cheap as possible then invoice you, or you can organise everything, pay for it your end and then issue us instructions once we have agreed dates.

The Hydrotherm Experience - Foundation Level One (FI)

This course is suitable for beauty and holistic therapists, either working independently or in therapy businesses, where an in-depth understanding of anatomy is not generally required, and for students at Colleges of Further Education who are studying an appropriate therapy course. It is also the entry course that all potential Hydrotherm Practitioners must complete before they can progress to any other course.

Minimum Course Entry Requirements

Before commencing their training, potential Practitioners must already hold a basic Anatomy and Physiology qualification at a recognised institution, or be in the process of obtaining one. They must also hold, or be in the process of obtaining a qualification for which Hydrotherm is regarded as being appropriate (such as Massage, Beauty Therapy, Reiki, Reflexology, etc.) awarded by a recognised institution. As part of their registration, they will be asked to sign a declaration to this effect.

They must have a minimum age of at least 18 years and an adequate level of written and spoken English. If physically challenged, they must have sufficient ability to perform the massage techniques involved. 

   

Brief Course Details

Trainees will learn how to set up and use the Complete Hydrotherm System equipment (including the heatpads) irrespective of the system that they will be using. They will also learn how to give a safe and effective full body Hydrotherm (Massage) Treatment. This course is predominantly a practical hands-on training course. A Training Manual will be provided.

This course will be delivered by HTS Trainers or In-House Trainers who have been trained and certified to do so by HTS. A training class may contain both male and female Trainees.

Course Duration

The course consists of one full day of tuition, followed by a period of practical work (expected to be of the order of 4-6 weeks) and private study (of 2-4 hours minimum). This duration will depend on the circumstances, aptitude and ability of the Trainees and may be either shortened or lengthened at the discretion of the Trainer. A final half-day assessment will take place when the Trainee is ready for that.

Practical Work

Complete at least six practice treatments and document each of these in separate Case Study Reports.

Assessment

The assessment will consist of a short oral test, review of the case studies submitted and by the Trainee giving a Hydrotherm Treatment to the Assessor, who will usually be the HTS Trainer that taught the Trainee or a nominated HTS Teacher Trainer when an In-house College Trainer has delivered the course.

Certification

On receipt of a favourable report from the Assessor, HTS will issue a certificate confirming that the Trainee has successfully completed the Foundation Course (FI) and is authorised to provide basic Hydrotherm Treatments. This certificate will not become valid until the Trainee has obtained the entry qualifications mentioned above, after which they can class themselves as a certified Hydrotherm Practitioner.

Further Development

Practitioners who have completed this course and wish to develop their Hydrotherm skills can proceed to one of two further courses:-

  • The Advanced Hydrotherm Foundation Course (FII), following which they can follow the Foundation Courses route to MDP Level (FIII). 
  • The Hydrotherm Experience Clinical Course (CI), following which they can follow the Clinical Courses route to MDP Level (CIII) and then could be invited to join the HTS Network as Associate Members and become HTS Trainers (through the first HTS Trainers Course (TCI)).

Advanced Hydrotherm - Foundation Level Two (FII)

This course is suitable for Hydrotherm Practitioners who work as beauty and holistic therapists, either independently or in therapy businesses, where an in-depth understanding of anatomy is not generally required, and for students at Colleges of Further Education who are studying an appropriate therapy course, and have successfully completed the Hydrotherm Experience Foundation Course (FI) and been certified to deliver the basic Hydrotherm Treatment.

Minimum Course Entry Requirements

Trainees will already be Hydrotherm Practitioners who have demonstrated their competence to deliver the basic Hydrotherm Experience Treatment over a reasonable period of time and, in the opinion of the Trainer, are capable of advancing to the next level.

Brief Course Details

Trainees will learn additional techniques to expand their ability to provide Hydrotherm Massage) Treatments, including work around the breasts. This course is also a predominantly practical hands-on training course. A Training Manual will be provided.

This course will be delivered by HTS Trainers or In-House Trainers who have been trained and certified to do so by HTS. A training class may contain both male and female Trainees.

Course Duration

The course consists of one full day of tuition, followed by a period of practical work (expected to be of the order of 6-8 weeks) and private study (of 4-8 hours minimum). This duration will depend on the circumstances, aptitude and ability of the Trainees and may be either shortened or lengthened at the discretion of the Trainer. A final half-day assessment will take place when the Trainee is ready to do so.

Practical Work

Complete at least twelve practice treatments and document each of these in separate Case Study Reports.

Assessment

The assessment will consist of an oral test, review of the Case Studies submitted and by the Trainee giving a Hydrotherm Treatment to the Assessor, who will usually be the HTS Trainer that taught the Trainee or a nominated HTS Teacher Trainer when an In-house College Trainer has delivered the course.

Certification

On receipt of a favourable report from the Assessor, HTS will issue a certificate confirming that the Trainee has successfully completed the Advanced Hydrotherm Foundation Course (FII) and is authorised to provide an Advanced Hydrotherm Treatment.

  • The MDP (Massage During Pregnancy) Foundation Course (FIII). 
  • The Advanced Hydrotherm Clinical Course (CII) following which they can follow the Clinical Courses route to MDP Level (CIII) and then could be invited to join the HTS Network as Associate Members and become HTS Trainers (through the first HTS Trainers Course (TCI)).

Massage During Pregnancy - Foundation Level Three (FIII)

This course is suitable for Hydrotherm Practitioners who work as beauty and holistic therapists, either independently or in therapy businesses, where an in-depth understanding of anatomy is not generally required, and for students at Colleges of Further Education who are studying an appropriate therapy course, who have successfully completed the Advanced Hydrotherm Foundation Course (FII) and been certified to deliver Advanced Hydrotherm Treatments, and now wish to expand their offering to include a Massage During Pregnancy (MDP) service. Due to its unique characteristics, Hydrotherm Treatments are ideally suited to providing safe and beneficial massage during pregnancy, provided that additional key skills are learned and certain precautions observed.

Minimum Course Entry Requirements

Trainees will already be Hydrotherm Practitioners who have demonstrated their competence to deliver the
Advanced Hydrotherm Treatment over a reasonable period of time and, in the opinion of the Trainer, are
capable of advancing to the next level in order to be able to offer an MDP service .

Brief Course Details

Trainees will learn how to give safe, effective and nuturing Hydrotherm Treatments to pregnant women. In addition to learning new massage techniques, Trainees will learn about the physiological changes to the female body that take place during pregnancy. Some private study of selected reading material about pregnancy is advised. A Training Manual will be provided.

This course will be delivered by HTS Trainers or In-House Trainers who have been trained and certified to do so by HTS. A training class may contain both male and female Trainees.

Course Duration

The course consists of one full day of tuition, followed by a period of practical work (expected to be of the order of 6-8 weeks) and private study (of 6-12 hours minimum). This duration will depend on the circumstances, aptitude and ability of the Trainees and may be either shortened or lengthened at the discretion of the Trainer. A final half-day assessment will take place when the Trainee is ready for that.

Practical Work

Complete at least six practice treatments and document each of these in separate Case Study Reports. Simulated treatments will be acceptable but these should be on ladies who have experienced pregnancy and so are able to comment on the quality of the treatment for the Case Study Reports.

Assessment

The assessment will consist of a written multi-choice test, oral questions, a review of the Case Studies submitted and by the Trainee demonstrating to the Assessor through a simulated practical test that they have mastered the techniques involved and are knowledgeable of the precautions to be followed. The Assessor will usually be the HTS Trainer that taught the Trainee or a nominated HTS Teacher Trainer when an In-house College Trainer has delivered the course.

Certification

On receipt of a favourable report from the Assessor, HTS will issue a certificate confirming that the Trainee has successfully completed the MDP Foundation Course (FIII) and is authorised to provide those MDP Hydrotherm Treatments.

Further Development

Practitioners who have completed this course and wish to develop their Hydrotherm skills further can proceed to:-

  • Clinical MDP Level Three (CIII) and then could be invited to join the HTS Network as Associate Members and become HTS Trainers (through the first HTS Trainers Course (TCI)).

Hydrotherm Experience - Clinical Level One (CI)

This course is suitable for all therapists, either working independently or in therapy businesses, who wish to improve their knowledge of applied anatomy.  The course emphasises the value to the therapist, and their clients, when they have a much better comprehension of surface anatomy.  It is also for students at Colleges of Further Education who are studying an appropriate therapy course.  It offers the opportunity to learn musculo-skeletal anatomy in a dynamic and positive way which enhances the therapist’s skill and reputation.

Minimum Course Entry Requirements

Trainees must have completed the Hydrotherm Experience Foundation (FI) Course, which is the entry course upon which this one is built.

Brief Course DetailsTherapists will be taught hands-on techniques for identifying important muscles of the leg, thigh, buttocks, lower back, pelvis, upper back, neck and shoulders.  Training will include useful facts directed towards industry specific and related skills.  A Training Manual will be provided.This course will be delivered by HTS Trainers or In-House Trainers who have been trained and certified to do so by HTS.  A training class may contain both male and female Trainees.

Course Duration

The course consists of one full day of tuition, followed by a period of private study (of 12 hours minimum), with some practical work, normally over a period of several weeks.  This duration will depend on the circumstances, aptitude and ability of the Trainees and may either be shortened or lengthened at the discretion of the Trainer.  A final half-day assessment will take place when the Trainee is ready for that.

Practical Work

The Trainee will be required to practice identification of both bony and soft tissue landmarks and to have learned the origin, insertion and action of at least 12 different muscles.

Recommended Reading

The Hydrotherm Experience Training Manual (CI) provided; plus any good quality anatomy reference books that detail the information on the muscles, at least to the standard provided in the Training Manual (CI).  The Trainer may recommend additional reading material to the Trainee.

Assessment

The assessment will consist of a multi-choice questionnaire together with an oral test of the Trainee’s knowledge.  This assessment will usually be carried out by the Trainer that taught the Trainee or by another certified by HTS to do so.

Certification

On receipt of a favourable report from the Assessor, HTS will issue a certificate confirming that the Trainee has successfully completed the Clinical Course (CI) and is considered competent at the basic Hydrotherm Clinical (CI) level.

Further Development

Practitioners who have completed this Course and wish to develop their Hydrotherm skills can proceed to one of three further courses:-
  • The Advanced Hydrotherm Foundation Course (FII), following which they can follow the Foundation Courses route to MDP Level (FIII).
  • The Advanced Hydrotherm Clinical Course (CII), following which they can follow the Clinical Courses route to MDP Level (CIII) and then could be invited to join the HTS Network as Associate Members and become HTS Trainers (through the first HTS Trainers Course (TCI)).
  • Take an In-house Trainer Foundation or Clinical Course (IHTFI and/or IHTCI), in order to be able to deliver the (FI) and/or (CI) Courses within the business or organisation by whom they are employed, provided that the Hydrotherm Head of Training considers them sufficiently competent to do so.
